Since late last year, after reading the reports on how foreign workers being 'conned' and ill-treated by their employer here, i really sympathise them alot. Sometimes i saw them, i just thought, they are so innocent, so simple and just wanna earn the meagre salary here, leaving their family and loved ones behind in their faraway country. What did they do to deserve this? Ok, some of them did 'mis-behave' in our neighbourhood. But they sold things or borrow $ at home to pay the agents to come here. They have to pay off their loan every month, getting only a couple of dollars to live. If the employer gave them a job, educate them, they would know how to live their life.
There was once I saw many of them gathering outside MOM, and that was the period when there were reports saying agents has collected money from them and promised them with work here but they were given nothing after they arrived. There were no shelter, no jobs. Some of them work for days or weeks, and were not being paid. Though among them were chinese, most of them are from Bangladesh, India, Myanmar. Some of them live in the kind of unhygenic and crowded condition more like for animals than for human.
Having met some of them, they were eager to learn, they are willing to work, they just need a paid job. Why must the agents so 无良, so 缺德。
