We all are like this.... ok ok, most of us are like this. It's only when that someone left you for good, or passed away, then we'll realise how we didn't do enough, how we didn't spend enough time with them. I've read an article about an old man comforting his wife when their 3 children each telling them they were having busy schedule or other commitment and would not make it back to celebrate Christmas with them. And a family gathering is hard to come by. One day, old man called his children who lived in different part of the world, telling them that their mother is dying soon. Hence, all his children and grandchildren flew back the following day. One of them even arrived on the same night. To their surprise, their mother were well and kicking. The mother said to them "if it were for real, I would not have the chance to see all of you, again. We do not need Christmas celebration, just a simple family dinner together will do. "
More often than not, "When you grown up, you have your family and job commitment, priority is never your parents"
