Spent 1 nite in Lake Toba and 2 nites in Brastagi. Lake Toba is amazing. Imagine we're staying on the crater. 'on'? or 'in'? Anything.... ;p The weather is quite cooling, not as hot as the city. But Brastagi is even cooler, something like Genting Highland. The view is scenic. Though laidback but a good place to really relax cos there's really nothing much to do. Travelling from Medan airport to Lake Toba is about 4 and 1/2 hours, while fm Lake Toba to Brastagi is about 2 hours. One is at mountain top, one is volcano. So imagine we travel by van fm mountain to mountain.... the rides could be quite bumpy due to severe road condition and the super narrow path for 2 way vehicles. But along the way, besides scenic, it's quite an educational tour. Saw plants like coffee tree, atap tree, fruit trees, plantation, vegetation farm.... and animals that we only see in zoo, and many more. Can't resist to mention we saw very beautiful big fat monkeys.
Dun expect the condition in so-called 'Hotel' is like those in S'pore. My sensitive nose runs for the first 2 days. The weather, the long hours ride in the not-so-well-aired van, plus the living condition, the 'dunno-clean-or-not' towel. Oh boy, i'm getting pampered. How did i live thru my Cambodia trip 3 yrs ago huh? I dun think I can do it again leh... oops! But it's really really a very good experience!
